We Are Requesting Letters of Support!!!

We no longer have funding to print the Educational Packets for everyone that requests them. The committee is in the process of searching for additional funding for this and future projects that will be guided by youth input.  If you have any questions or would like to write a letter of support for this project, please contact:

What is the Youth Matters Committee?

The REACH CNY Youth Matters Committee was formerly known as the CNYCAP (Central New York Council on Adolescent Pregnancy) Education Committee.

Purpose of the Committee

The committee’s primary focus is to assist people who work with youth, especially relating to pregnancy prevention. The committee and REACH CNY take a Youth Development/Strength and Asset Building approach. We often address other issues related to adolescent mental, emotional and physical health.

The general goals of the committee are to:

  1. Assess the needs of the youth and people working with youth in their communities to determine specific projects.
  2. Research and distribute resources about best practices working with youth.
  3. Develop and distribute materials to assist those working with youth.
  4. Develop and sponsor informational sessions.
  5. Increase community awareness of issues relating to adolescent pregnancy and youth development.
  6. Increase REACH CNY’s visibility with people working with youth.

Committee Membership & Make Up

The committee is chaired by a Board member who is assisted by a staff liaison and the members of the committee. Membership is open to anyone that works on adolescent pregnancy prevention and youth development programming throughout Central New York. This includes, but is not limited to:

·        representatives from community based organizations

·        teachers and school administration

·        youth
