A creative and thought provoking presentation of issues around mental health care. Ben de la Garza-Bassett, Peer Specialist for Unique Peerspectives (a Peer Support Center), Transitional Living Services of Syracuse, will describe his journey within the mental health system and ways that peer support can help to individualize recovery. Ben will discuss how a mental health label does not define a person’s character and the dangers of labeling an individual early in life. In addition to his work as a Peer Specialist, Ben is an established Syracuse area musician and has promised to share some of his musical talents with us. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
